Overutrned Motor Vehicle Collision on Hawthorne Road

On Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at 2108 EMS Station 51 was alerted for a motor vehicle collision at Acorn Springs Place & Hawthorne Road. Ambulance 517 responded with B. Canfield (Driver), EMT-B A. Hudler (OIC), EMT-B R. Bushman, and Aide B. Perino. Ambulance 518 also responded with EMT-B J. Gilroy (Driver), & EMT-B L. Reece (OIC). The crews arrived to find a single vehicle, with a single occupant overturned.
The responding Fire units from LaPlata Co. 1 had begun patient care prior to A517's arrival. Ambulance 517's crew assumed care of the vehicles occupant. Due to the Mechanism of the Injury, the ALS unit was called to the scene. Paramedic Ambulance 519 responded with EMT-B P.Gantt and EMT-P K. Smith. Ambulance 517 transported the patient to Southern Maryland Hospital in Clinton with non-life threating injuries.
